Do you take song requests?

Sure, all the time! I have list that I keep all of the requests and as I can fit them in, they will either be posted on the Song of the Month page or in a new publication.

What are your new projects for 2007?

There are many. The latest is the 'Essential Theory' series. The Mandolin is the first one available. There will be similar books for the Fiddle, Guitar, Banjo, Bass and Dobro released later in 2007.

Another project that is soon to be released is a series for the First Year Student. These are practical arrangements for the 'musically challenged' musician with a host of play-along recordings including but not limited to, bluegrass, folk, country, blues, jazz/swing, mandolin orchestra and Christmas. These will be tailored for the 'First Year' student.

There will be many new videos (downloads) that will accompany all of the new releases.

Who are the musicians/singers on your recordings?

All of the instrumentation is performed by Jay Buckey. The male singing is mostly done by Marty Warburton. Jay does a few tracks. The female singing is done by Ginger Litvinoff and Marty's sister, April.

What instruments and equipment do you use to record with?

Banjo = 1999 Earl Scruggs Gibson

Mandolin = Gibson F5L (1999)

Fiddle = From luthier, Ed Moore (Flagstaff, AZ)

Guitars = Martin D28/Gibson D60

Dobro = Deluxe 27

Bass = Unmarked Japanese 3/4

The recordings are made with a very simple set up. The microphone is an MXL 9000 condenser, with a Tascam US-144 USB interface to connect to a desktop computer. Cubase software is used to capture the audio and process it into a final mix. The sheet music and tablature is also scored with Cubase. That's it!
